| I grew up in the mid-west in a single parent home. (I was a latchkey kid before they coined the term) My first experience with Jesus Christ was at the age of 13 when I received the glorious gift of the Holy Ghost just like the Apostles did in the book of Acts chapter 2. At the age of 20, I married Buddy, a widower with 4 small children who was 10 years older than me. Looking back, I realize writing has always been a part of who I am. As a teenager I would often sort out my feelings on paper. Confiding in my journal brought peace and clarity. As a young adult, I filled many writing needs for my local church. I wrote Christmas plays, Easter readings, Mother's Day poems etc. As an extension of this type of writing, I was asked by a friend to contribute to a cutting edge e-zine he was creating. This was in 1999 when web magazines were just coming onto the scene. "Instant Mom" was the first article I wrote. I still remember the thrill of being published! Granted it was only for an obscure (at the time) e-zine, but for me it was huge! I will forever be grateful to Kent Curry for opening the door to the writing world by asking me to write for www. ninetyandnine.com . I wrote several more online articles and was growing in confidence when depression slipped up behind me and tried to take me out. I was unprepared and didn't cope well at first. But, God taught me alot of lessons as He helped me climb up the hill of hope. Now, in midlife, I realize God has even greater plans for my writing. I've shared my short devotions with those who are seeking for more of God. He has used them in ways that just blow my mind. Recently, a friend offered to translate them into Spanish. I'm so excited about this! I've also written a series on Bringing Christ To Work, which I hope will become a book. Along the way, I share my experiences of raising an instant family, being a grandmother of eleven, a constant challenge with obesity, the value friendship and spiritual growth. I am not an expert. Just another fallen human who's trying grow in this wonderful journey called life. Here's some pics of my family: |
